California Chrome's Stride Angle
Third Largest in History

A lot of speculation about California Chrome's success has centered on its nasal strips.

At Somax Performance Institute we find that they are irrelevant to its performance

The most important factor in racing is the Stride Angle--the maximum opening between the front and trailing legs.

This applies to both horses and humans.

The reason that it is so important is that for every degree you increase your Stride Angle-- you increase your stride length by 2%.

California Chrome has a Stride Angle of 100 degrees, larger than Affirmed, the last Triple Crown winner in 1978.

Chrome will win the Triple Crown on its stride mechanics, not its nasal strips.
